Saunas are known as a great way to strengthen the immune system in winter. Here at the Waldhotel Arosa we have a range of saunas with different temperatures and aromas. Finnish sauna, herb sauna, outdoor sauna - it's up to you!

> 7 different saunas
> Kneipp water therapy & jungle showers
> Open from 13:00 until 19:30

Spa Salus (18 years and over)
  • Temperature: 80°C to 95°C
  • Humidity: 10% to 30%

Enjoy a sizzling session in the Finnish sauna before cooling off under the shower. This switch from hot to cold is beneficial for the circulation of blood in the body and strengthens the immune system so you are able to fight off infections more easily.

The heat of the sauna increases the flow of blood to the skin, which can also help with skin diseases. As the muscles relax, the natural process for healing injuries to muscles and tendons speeds up. The warm air also has a positive effect on the lungs and respiratory system.

  • Temperature: 45°C to 50°C
  • Humidity: 90%

The special combination of saltwater and steam plus warm air creates a microclimate within the steam room which is similar to that found next to the sea in hot countries. Fine sea salt is mixed into water to create salt-rich steam in the air. Essential oils with eucalyptus and mint extracts are added to clear the airways and soothe the skin.

The result is a steam-rich atmosphere with positive effects on the lungs and respiratory system. In the centre of the room there also is a trickling water feature and large mountain crystal.

  • Temperature: 55°C to 65°C
  • Humidity: 60%

"Sanarium" is the name given to a sauna where the temperature not excessively hot and the air is often infused with natural essences. In our herb sanarium the air temperature is kept at a constant 65°C, with the humidity level relatively high at 60%. Herbs placed above the sauna oven are splashed with water at regular intervals. The result is a warm, humid climate with a strong aroma of natural mountain herbs.

We generally use herbs such as camomile (calming and stress-reducing), sage (deodorising and anti-septic) or lavender (invigorating and harmonising). The soothing effect of the herbs and the pleasant aroma are beneficial for the skin and respiratory system.

  • Temperature: 40°C to 45°C
  • Humidity: 90%
  • Duration: 50 minutes (time alone for couples)
  • 99 Swiss francs

The "Serail bath" was used by Oriental kings many hundreds of years ago. It begins with a 30-minute session for two people in a heated cabin while wearing body wraps with different effects. These can achieve anything from detoxifying and cleansing the skin to relieving pain, generating warmth, speeding up the metabolism, soothing the skin and relaxing the muscles.

You can then enjoy 20 minutes on our waterbed. Our spa team will be happy to help you choose the body wrap which best suits your needs.

Aqua Silva (family-friendly)
  • Temperature: 55°C
  • Humidity: 60%

Our pinewood sanarium hosts regular infusion sessions with natural essential oils to invigorate mind and body as well as to cleanse the skin and clear the airways.

  • Temperature: 45°C
  • Humidity: 90%

In Ancient Rome steam rooms were popular thanks to the health benfits offered by high humidity and gentle heat. We add selected essential oils to the water used to make the steam in order to create an aroma which cleanses the lungs and soothes the skin.

  • Temperature: 55°C
  • Humidity: 60%

The herb sauna uses soothing essential oils to create a not-too-hot atmosphere which cleanses the lungs and airways while also pampering the skin.

  • Temperature: 85°C
  • Humidity: 10%

Made from solid tree trunks which are more than 100 years old, our outdoor sauna is characterised by high temperatures and low humidity levels. This causes the human body to sweat quickly and release natural toxins.

Infusions are carried out at regular intervals using essential oils. The perfect place for a genuine sauna experience which will leave you feeling both relaxed and invigorated.

Kneipp water therapy is a treatment programme combining warm and cold water in order to invigorate the skin and increase the flow of blood. We have combined this centuries-old technique with massage elements in our "Kneipp grotto". As you walk through you will feel the beneficial effects of hot and cold water combined with pressure on certain points of your body. The result will leave you feeling fresh and relaxed. Kneipp therapy has also been proven to reduce pain.

Opening hours: 7:00 until 19:30
